For Tomorrow Foundation reported a successful six-month project on youth exchange and social inclusion

The accredited project of For Tomorrow Foundation was implemented in three phases of youth exchange, funded by the EU under the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union and covered a total of 54 different participants from 7 countries - Romania, Lithuania, Croatia, Turkey, Slovakia, Italy and Bulgaria.

 


With the aim to develop skills to support the social and labour inclusion of young people with intellectual difficulties. For Tomorrow Foundation included three main activities:

- A training programme for youth workers (Interactive Inclusion) and

- Two youth exchanges - Let`s Play Together and Let`s Work Together

 

The activities of the projects were aimed at developing good models of support, mutual learning, interaction and active social inclusion between young people from different European countries and young people with intellectual disabilities. All activities are based on non-formal education principles and focus on developing practical skills, knowledge and sustainable attitudes through direct interaction between the two target groups.

 


Outdoor activities promoting the principles of environmental protection, green models and ecological behaviour, as well as activities promoting creative thinking, creativity, cultural and interpersonal tolerance are at the forefront of the activities. Last but not least, the activities also focused on interaction with the local community.

 

 

In the first two activities in Blagoevgrad the youth visited and interacted with a school where innovative models for education of children and young people with intellectual disabilities are imposed, and in the third project the youth worked on the ground with local youth to implement models of labour inclusion through the improvement of the village where the mobility takes place - the village of Dolni Rakovets, Radomir municipality.

 

 

The project is implemented through 3 consecutive mobilities:

1) 4-15 March 2024 in University Center Bachinovo Blagoevgrad

Youth workers Training program "INTERACTive Inclusion" - Innovative approaches for informal education of young people with special educational needs - with the participation of 22 young people and three trainers from 6 countries.

 


2) 6-17 May 2024 at the University Center Bachinovo Blagoevgrad

Youth exchange "Let's Play together" - Social inclusion through interactive peer to peer activities - with the participation of 16 young people (8 of them with special needs) 4 assistants (of young people with special needs) and 4 ma group leaders from 4 countries.

 

3) 5-16 August 2024 at the Human Development House DOM OM - in the village of. Youth exchange "LET'S WORK TOGETHER"- Informal education methods for work inclusion of young people with intellectual disabilities - with the participation of 16 young people (4 of them with specific needs) and 4 group leaders/assistants.

 

 

The accredited project has three main objectives on the basis of which the activities are implemented:

Objective 1 Supporting the social inclusion and personal development of young people with intellectual disabilities through educational mobility and non-formal learning methods - to achieve this objective a youth exchange "Let's Play together" - Social inclusion through interactive peer to peer activities was implemented.

 

Objective 2 To support vocational guidance and employment opportunities for young people with intellectual difficulties through educational mobility activities. In order to achieve this objective, the youth exchange "LET'S WORK TOGETHER"- Informal education methods for work inclusion of young people with intellectual disabilities was implemented.

 

Objective 3 Develop the capacity of youth workers and professionals to work innovatively and effectively with young people with intellectual disabilities to support their social inclusion. In order to achieve this goal, a training programme for youth workers was implemented - "INTERACTive Inclusion" - Innovative approaches for informal education of young people with special educational needs

 

 

After the completion of the third project with the collaboration of the young people - photos and texts created by them, summarizing their impressions and experience from the project, a NEWSLETTER was created and distributed among the participants, partners and friends of the Foundation "For Tomorrow".
