Volunteers and young people with intellectual disabilities will visit the village of Dolni Rakovets under the project of "For Tomorrow" Foundation

In 2025, the Blagoevgrad Foundation "For Tomorrow" was approved to implement four youth mobility projects under the European Erasmus+ programme, aimed at the social and professional inclusion of young people with intellectual difficulties.
The first project "INnate' ART INclusion - Innovative art tools for social and labour inclusion" will take place in the village of Dolni Rakovets from 28 March to 7 April inclusive. 14 youth workers from 6 countries - Turkey, Romania, Norway, Lithuania, Spain, Croatia, as well as 4 participants from Bulgaria (two of them young people with intellectual disabilities) will come to the village under the Erasmus+ funded project. They will improve their skills and capacity to work with young people with intellectual disabilities, as well as create an informal network to share resources and best practices among youth workers. Following last year's successful exchange, Mayor Ioana Georgieva and the residents of Dolni Rakovets will be happy to welcome the youth participants again this year and support the For Tomorrow Foundation in its efforts to achieve social inclusion and innovative learning. The project activities are also supported by Radomir Municipality.
The Youth Worker Training Programme - "INnate' ART INclusion" will offer innovative artistic tools for social and professional inclusion and will introduce young people to instinctive and spontaneous art forms and their use in the social and labour inclusion of young people with intellectual disabilities.
Lead speakers in the training program of the Foundation For Tomorrow will be music therapists, psychologists, art teachers and artists with experience in inclusive work. Special attention will be given to arts-related social enterprises, and sound therapy, dance and digital technologies will be presented as tools to support arts-related activities. Hands-on activities will be held on making puppets (at the Puppet Museum) in Sofia, working with clay, making souvenirs and gifts, painting and other applied creative methods. Participants will contribute to the beautification of Dolni Rakovets village by holding a creative action in the village square and park on the 5th of April. As part of the project, the participants will also visit the social enterprise "Made with Love" in Pernik to learn best practices on how art can contribute to the social and labour inclusion of people with disabilities.
Participants in the project will have the opportunity to present their countries not only to other young people but also to the villagers. During the "Cultural Evenings" they will prepare traditional food, tell interesting facts from the history, culture and customs of their countries. The inhabitants of Dolni Rakovets are also invited to participate in these evenings, as they actively participated last year. On 29 March (Saturday) will be the Bulgarian evening where the Bulgarian participants together with young people from Dolni Rakovets village will present Bulgarian culture and traditions. Surprises are prepared with talented guest musicians who will present traditional Bulgarian songs and choirs.
An innovative Flashmob "Dance Walk", in the form of a carnival in the village square, will officially launch the project on 30 March, and the youth of Dolni Rakovets are invited to join in. Participants will make their own artistic costumes with hand-made materials - old clothes, fabrics, paints and recyclable materials and all together will dance under the guidance of Irina Stoyanova. Volunteers in the project will embark on the flow of imagination, and the initiative will diversify the daily life of the village and awaken artistic mood in local residents.
As a result of the project, 18 youth workers from different European countries will gain valuable experience and knowledge on how to apply various art methods to develop the creative potential and support the social and labour inclusion of young people with special needs, as well as stimulate the activity of local youth and promote volunteering.
The activities of the team of "For Tomorrow" Foundation, Blagoevgrad are aimed at improving the quality of life of people with special educational needs and their integration into society as equal members.
